Simpro alternative for Australian trades.

Simpro is the deeper system: their app genuinely works with no signal, they link to MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon as well as Xero, and their planned maintenance, stock control and project accounting go further than ours. What you will not get is a price. Simpro publishes no rates on their pricing page, so you book a demo, sit through a sales process and wait for a quote before you know what it costs.

How Simpro charges

Simpro does not publish a price. Their pricing page has no dollar figure and no per user rate on it. What it says is that the cost is built around your team size, how many of your people are in the office versus out in the field, and which add-ons you take, then you request a quote. One thing to know about how we checked: simprogroup.com blocks automated access and returns a 403 to anything that is not a real browser, so we are going off the copy their own pricing page carries rather than a page we could load ourselves. Open it in a browser and see for yourself. You buy licences rather than a flat plan: office User licences, which are concurrent and can be shared around a pool, and Mobility licences for the app, which are one per person, with add-ons like Digital Forms, Maintenance Planner, Takeoffs, Simtrac and SMS bought on top, and an onboarding and training program to budget for as well.

Where Simpro is genuinely better

The app genuinely works with no signal. Their help guide says Simpro Mobile operates predominantly offline: it downloads your data on first login and keeps going in a plant room, a basement or out past the last tower, then queues what you did and sends it when you reconnect. If your crews regularly lose coverage, that on its own can decide this. They connect to MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon as well as Xero. If your accountant runs your file in MYOB and will not move, we cannot help you and Simpro can. That is not a small thing in Australia. Maintenance Planner is proper asset work: service levels, failure points, recommended repairs, preferred technicians, and an alert when an asset fails its test, with the job coming out pre-filled with the site, the asset and the pre-build labour. If you do fire, backflow or HVAC testing across hundreds of assets, we do not have an answer for that. Simtrac fits trackers to your vehicles and gives you a live map, geofences, trip replays and servicing schedules for the fleet. That is a whole capability we do not offer. There is a marketplace of partner apps and a Zapier integration into hundreds of systems. If you already run HubSpot, Dropbox, Asana or something niche in your industry, there is a decent chance the join already exists and you do not have to ask anyone to build it. Their office User licences are concurrent. Their own help guide's example is five licences shared among ten employees, with five logged in at once. If you have a pile of part-time or occasional office users, a shared pool can work out cheaper than our named seats, and that is a real point in their favour.

Where people move to us

The price is on the page and you can work out your bill before you speak to anybody. 49 a month ex GST with your first Full Access user in it, then $69 per extra Full Access user, $29 per Mobile Only seat, dropping to $23 from seat 21. The one thing not in that number is Momo, our AI assistant, a paid add-on per Full Access user with no public price yet. Every feature of the CRM is on from day one: quoting, jobs, scheduling and dispatch, invoicing, purchase orders, subcontractor work orders, job costing, retentions, timesheets, margin and win rate reporting, GPS clock on, JSAs and safety forms and photo capture. Momo is the one paid add-on on top, priced per Full Access user, and we have not published that price yet. You can try it before you talk to a salesperson. 14 days free, no credit card, then month to month with no lock-in and no setup fee. Field seats are cheap to add. Mobile Only is $29 a seat and drops to $23 from seat 21, so putting the whole crew on the phone does not cost what putting them in the office does. We are a new product without a long review history, so the phone number matters: Adelaide, seven days, 7am to 9pm ACST.

Who Simpro actually suits

Simpro suits a bigger, more complex operation. If you run planned maintenance across hundreds of customer assets, track stock across a yard and a fleet of vans, need MYOB or QuickBooks, run several entities out of one build, or your crews work where the signal drops out, Simpro is built for exactly that and we are not. Expect to pay for implementation and training.

Who StackLyft actually suits

StackLyft suits a trade business that wants a published price and wants to be working this week. Quoting, jobs, scheduling and dispatch, invoicing, purchase orders, subbie work orders, job costing, retentions, timesheets, safety forms and site photos all sit in the one price, with Momo, our AI assistant, the one paid add-on on top and no public price on it yet. We are a good fit if your books are in Xero, if your crews work where there is coverage, because our offline support is limited, and if you would rather ring Adelaide seven days a week than lodge a ticket. We are also a new product without a long review history, and you should weigh that.

What sits behind a higher plan or costs extra

Simpro's own Add-Ons article lists seven things you buy on top of the core system: Data Feed, Digital Forms, Maintenance Planner, simPOS, Simtrac, SMS and Takeoffs. Their Licences article adds Call Centre, described there as an add-on you purchase and access with a User licence. Simpro Takeoffs needs its own licence for each person using it, and their help guide notes that beta users who did not go on to buy a licence lost access to takeoffs. Two-way SMS, where a customer can text you back, is only available on Simpro Lightning according to their own SMS article. Plain one-way SMS is a separate paid plan with credits. Their help guide says Mobility licences are not concurrent, so every apprentice and tech you want in Simpro Mobile needs their own licence.

Questions

How much does Simpro cost in Australia?

Simpro does not publish a price. There is no dollar figure on their pricing page and no per user rate. What their page says is that the cost is built around your team size, how many people are in the office versus the field, and which add-ons you take, and then you request a quote. Worth knowing how we checked: simprogroup.com blocks automated access and returned a 403 to us again the day we wrote this, so we are going off the copy their own pricing page carries rather than a page we could load ourselves. Open it in a browser yourself. Anyone putting a Simpro number on the internet is estimating, so treat those pages carefully and get yours in writing from Simpro.

Does Simpro have a free trial?

We could not find one. What their site points you to is a tailored demo with a consultant, over video or on site, and a self-guided tour page you can click through, and new customers then go through a structured implementation and training program. We could not load their site directly to check, it blocks automated access, so if a self-serve trial matters to you, ask them straight out. StackLyft gives you 14 days free with no credit card, then month to month with no lock-in.

Does Simpro work with MYOB?

Yes. Simpro's own help guide lists MYOB AccountRight Live and MYOB desktop through their accounting link, alongside Xero, QuickBooks Online, Reckon and QuickBooks Desktop, with Sage in the UK and Exact in the Netherlands. That is a straight win for them over us. StackLyft syncs two ways with Xero and nothing else, no MYOB, no QuickBooks and no Reckon. If your accountant will not move off MYOB, Simpro is the safer pick and we would rather say so here than waste your time on a call.

Does Simpro work offline?

Yes, and properly. Their help guide says Simpro Mobile operates predominantly offline: it pulls down your data on first login, keeps working with no connection, and queues anything you submit until you are back on. There are limits on what you can do offline and they list them in their own mobile FAQs, so check that list against the work your crews actually do. StackLyft's offline support is limited and we want you on coverage or Wi-Fi, so if your work is in basements, plant rooms or out bush, this one goes to Simpro.

Is Simpro or StackLyft cheaper?

We cannot tell you, and we are not going to invent a number to win the argument. Simpro does not publish rates on their pricing page, so the only honest answer is to get their quote and hold it next to ours. Ours is 49 a month ex GST with your first Full Access user included, then $69 per extra Full Access user and $29 per Mobile Only seat, dropping to $23 from seat 21, plus Momo, our AI assistant, which is a paid add-on per Full Access user with no public price yet. One structural thing worth knowing when you compare: Simpro's office User licences are concurrent, and their own example is five licences shared among ten employees with five logged in at once, while we charge per named seat. If you have a lot of casual office users, that could genuinely land in Simpro's favour.
