Paid on the day, and chased for you.

Customers pay an invoice by card or straight from their bank, into your own Stripe account. Take a deposit on site the moment a quote becomes a job. And overdue invoices get followed up, all at once when you choose, or automatically on the days you set.

One link, and they pay it.

Every invoice gets one secure link to a page with your business name, the invoice number, the due date and what is owing. Customers pay by card on Stripe’s own checkout, so card details never touch StackLyft, or by bank through PayTo, approved in their own banking app, once Stripe has switched PayTo on for you. The payment is recorded on the invoice by itself, and the invoice is marked paid when it is covered.

In the email, on the PDF, or in person.

Tick Include payment link when you email an invoice from Invoices and it carries a Pay now button beside View Invoice Online. Add the payment link to your invoice design and it prints on the PDF. In person, Take payment shows a QR code the customer scans and pays on their own phone.

The deposit, before you leave the driveway.

On the phone, an estimator who converts an accepted quote to a job is offered a deposit straight away: one percentage for the whole job or one per cost centre, with 10, 20, 25 and 50% a tap away. It raises the deposit invoice, due today, and puts the QR code up to pay there and then.

Your Stripe account, your money, no surprises.

You set the account up from inside StackLyft through Stripe’s own onboarding, and it is yours, with Stripe’s full dashboard. Your customer pays the invoice amount and nothing more. Stripe’s processing fee and StackLyft’s fee of 0.20% per card payment or $1.00 per bank payment come out of the payout, with nothing monthly on top.

Chase every overdue invoice at once.

Mass Follow-Up lists every invoice past its due date. Tick the ones to chase, write the email once with placeholders, read every email beside the invoice PDF it re-attaches, and send by email, text or both, skipping anyone with a complaint. It sends in the background from your own mailbox, up to 250 invoices a run, and chases an invoice at most twice.

Or set it once, and never chase again.

Switch on Automated Invoice Follow-Ups and every invoice you email offers up to three follow-ups, on the business days and at the time you set, by email, text or both, with the pay link if you want it. Each can be edited until it goes, and they stop by themselves when a payment or credit is recorded or the invoice is marked paid, archived or deleted, including payments that arrive through Xero.

Questions

What does it cost to take payments online?

Stripe's processing fee, and StackLyft's fee of 0.20% of a card payment or $1.00 per bank payment. Both come out of what Stripe pays you: your customer pays the invoice amount and nothing more. There is nothing monthly on top of your StackLyft subscription, and the fee table is on the setup page before you switch anything on.

Do I need a Stripe account already?

No. You connect from inside StackLyft and Stripe takes you through setting up an account for your business, on Stripe’s own pages, where your identity and bank details go. The account is yours, with Stripe’s full dashboard. An existing Stripe account cannot be linked in.

How can customers pay?

By card, and by bank through PayTo, which they approve in their own banking app, once Stripe has switched PayTo on for your account. The card checkout is Stripe’s, so Apple Pay and Google Pay appear where Stripe offers them on the customer’s device. Payments are in Australian dollars.

Can a customer pay part of an invoice?

The link always charges the whole amount still owing at the moment they pay. If part of it is paid some other way and you record that, the link charges the rest.

When do automatic follow-ups stop?

By themselves, when a payment or a credit is recorded on the invoice, even a part payment, or it is marked paid, archived or deleted, including a payment that arrives through Xero. Each one is checked again just before it goes, so none goes out once a payment is on the invoice. A complaint on the job asks you whether to stop them.

Can follow-ups go by text?

Yes, by email, text or both, once your own Twilio number is connected in settings. Twilio bills you for the texts. Every text ends with Reply STOP to opt out, and a number that has opted out is never texted.
